PRESERVATION BREEDERS OF CHAMPION AND HEALTH-TESTED ALASKAN MALAMUTES SINCE 1996
“There is a cycle of love and death that shapes the lives of those who choose to travel in the company of animals. It is a cycle unlike any other. To those who have never lived through its turnings and walked its rocky path, our willingness to give our hearts with full knowledge that they will be broken seems incomprehensible. Only we know how small a price we pay for what we receive; our grief, no matter how powerful it may be, is an insufficient measure of the joy we have been given.”

Lucas, Louie, Lou
Bred by: Spiritrun
Our handsome Lucas was built like a linebacker. He was solid as a rock and built for the job. He loved to pull and run the trails. He was quite a show puppy winning BPIG, BPISS and BPIS
July 28, 2010 - March 17, 2021
Beatrice, Princess Beatrice, Queen Bea.... Be-otch.
Bred by: Spiritrun and Co-owned with Robert & Dolores Sturdivant
Our beautiful Beatrice was a Canadian Champion and one of our cherished brood bitches. She was a gorgeous girl, dripping in type, bone and soundness. She loved winter and to run the trails and pull in harness. She was Edmund's best assistant during Maple Syrup season. She will be greatly missed. Lost to aggressive mammary cancer into her 11th year. She made the most of her last winter, running the trails and playing in the snow.

Marky Mark was my boy and Shelby's best friend. He was a beautiful producer. Exceptionally clean coming and going and fluid on the side; scissors bite, dark pigment; beautiful feet; correct tail carriage. We affectionately referred to him as "the sexiest dog alive", because he was. Our hearts broke when we lost Marky Mark far too soon to prostate cancer that spread to the lymphatic system.
Tucker was out of Am Can CH Barrenfield Artillery System, "Arte" and Crystal. He was a character, so full of life. He enjoyed the show ring, the sled train, and he did it all with bravado. He sired a couple of litters for us with the beautiful Libby.
Kali was out of Am Can CH Barrenfield Artillery System, "Arte" and Crystal. She was a sweet girl, who excelled in the show ring and as a dam and on the sled trail. She was the mother of Elliott and Bailey who have carried on her beautiful traits and Cassie, our first Best in Show bitch. I often thought she'd have made a great lead dog, had she not had such a high prey drive, LOL. Handled by good friend, Cheryl Paterson, Kali was WB at the 2005 AMCA Regional during the AMCA National Specialty week.
Out of our foundation breeding of Tyler and Amber, Crystal was an incredible matriarch for our breeding program. She was an accomplished show dog and incredible sled dog, but she was an outstanding mother and producer. To this day, Crystal is behind every single Spiritrun dog. She was a character-- talkative, brilliant, mischievous. I should write a book about her. Someday I will.
Out of our foundation breeding of Tyler and Amber,, Maliik, along with his sister Crystal, was my trusted lead dog into his 13th year. Winning the Working group and Best Veteran In Show, his athleticism really paid off in his older age, where he really stood out as an athlete that could do the job asked of him. He was a focussed lead dog, a focussed athlete and a sweet natured boy to be around. He had energy to burn, but always found an outlet for is whether swimming in the pond, orbiting the property or pulling me down a trail leading a team of dogs.
Out of our foundation breeding of Tyler and Amber, Tyler was an absolute Teddy Bear. He would fall to the ground and roll over for a tummy-rub at the sight of a group of children. He was a prolific sire and produced his beautiful temperament and sound movement. He is the sire of Gabby, who is the dam of Shelby and Mark, so you can smile knowing his influence remains strong.
Out of our foundation breeding of Tyler and Amber, Tobe was our first all-breed Best In Show and Specialty show winner. He was WD at the AMCA National Specialty in 1999 and his sister Kyrie was WB/BOS. He won multiple Best In Shows and was Canada's top Alaskan malamute in 2004. 2005 and 2006. What an absolute blast we had together.
Ruby-rube was a beautiful mahogany colour and she put the spirit in Spiritrun. She was a spitfire of a personality and became Tkaya's very best buddy for life. She lived over 15 years and enjoyed fetch, sledding, backpacking and socializing with anyone she came across. Everyone loved our Ruby.
Amber was our foundation, the dam of our first litter in 1998. She was a specialty winning and group placing bitch and was a true matriarch for our kennel. She was a beautiful representative of the breed, exquisite type and temperament. We are forever grateful to Keikewabic, Agassiz and Tundra kennels for guiding this beautiful girl into our lives.
Acquired in 1996 from Krystalmar Kennel, Tkaya was our first and the dog I had manifested for years before he arrived. I call him my sage, to this day. He was an old soul with so much wisdom to share. I learned everything from this dog. He will always be my greatest teacher in life.
